ABORTION: THE WORK OF THE BLOOD

E-mail Print PDF

As the debate and campaign for the new proposed constitution came to an end I had a candid talk with a learned friend I consider very balanced and informed.
As it would just happen, the issue of abortion came up. After much analysis of the abortion-related clauses and making up the decision we made on how to vote, one question lingered. How will the woman who feels guilty after aborting handle the guilt?

roduction: Fornication: What’s the big deal?
The Oxford dictionary defines Fornication as 'voluntary sexual intercourse between an unmarried couple.' Notice the difference between fornication and adultery. Adultery is 'the act of being unfaithful to one's wife or husband by voluntarily having sexual intercourse with someone else,' whereas Fornication is 'sexual intercourse between an unmarried couple.'

How To Wait Patiently

It’s so easy to miss out on some seasons in our lives when we are anxiously waiting to jump into the next. We have seen that impatience during the period of single-hood can lead to missing out on the true beauty intended for it.

How then can we enjoy the beauty of this wait?

1. Mingle Mingle!
I’m reminded of a game Chichi and I once participated in during a singles get-together. It was called ‘Mingle Mingle’. The essence of the game is to walk around the room and get to know a little about somebody of the opposite sex.

How We Wait Impatiently

You have probably been caught up in a queue and you felt like it was not moving at all. I know I have, many times; in banks waiting for my transaction to be processed or in the supermarket waiting for the cashier to serve me. Most times I’m very tempted to jump the line, to start complaining or to leave all together.

All these are signs of impatience; something that can happen when you are anxious or restless about wanting to get into a relationship. It’s easy to fall prey to the impatience that comes when you are not certain about when exactly you will meet that person. How do you know you are waiting impatiently?

Single & Sane -The Waiting Room I

E-mail Print PDF

Have you ever waited for something and it seemed like the more you checked your arm watch or the wall clock the slower time passed?

I’m an extremely impatient person and it seems like on every level my patience is being tested. One day its waiting for food to cook quickly but last Sunday it was about waiting for Chichi as she got dolled up for church. As I waited for her to decide on what to wear and watched as she debated between earrings, I found myself standing up several times, pacing back and forth around the living room and eventually sitting down again. This went on for an hour until she announced she was finally ready.

Single & Sane: Of Lists and Marriage Partners

The best thing about sharing an apartment with a friend is the sharing of costs on things like groceries, rent and the like. Chichi and I have been sharing an apartment for the past year and apart from her leaving the lights on at night, we pretty much get along.
With our busy schedules, it seems the only day we get to buy groceries is Saturdays and that has become an integral part of our Saturday routine.

I really miss those childhood days, back when the biggest decision I had to make was deciding whether to have porridge or tea for breakfast. Before I knew it, puberty crawled in and most of my Saturdays were spent going on and on with my close friend Chichi about the next best thing, Tony; the boy who lived down the street. Mind you, he was the only boy we knew at that time who had facial hair! Where did those days go?
